of meters. Research indicates that the canyon was formed in ancient times and has a history of hundreds of millions of years. Inside the canyon, streams flow gently with crystal-clear water where fish swim, shrimp leap, and crabs play. Waterfalls are formed at multiple spots; the sound of flowing water tinkles like a zither. Willow trees sway gracefully, pine and cypress trees are lush and green, birds sing and flowers bloom, creating a fairyland-like atmosphere. The steep cliffs on both sides of the canyon rise sharply, with overlapping mountain ridges and rocks scattered everywhere — some resembling humans, beasts, tools, or objects, with such lifelike appearances that they are truly breathtaking. It is hailed as the No. 1 Stone Forest and No. 1 Eco Valley in northern China.

Shenlong Grand Canyon is situated between Dongximen Village at the northeastern end of Daolang Town, (bearing

300°, latitude 36°16′, longitude 116°56′30″). From the seat of Daolang Town, take a vehicle passing through Dawang Village – Fengshan Village – Lianhua Pond Village – Liushi Village – Fangzhuang Village – Longju Temple – and then to Dongmen to reach the site, covering a distance of approximately 12 kilometers. Shenlong Grand Canyon runs from north to south, and from a distance, its overall shape resembles a giant dragon twisting and turning, with a total length of over 1,000 meters and a depth of more than 160 meters (measured from the mountaintop). According to experts, Shenlong Grand Canyon was formed in ancient times and has existed for hundreds of millions of years. The cliffs on both sides of the canyon feature overlapping mountain ridges. In spring, peach blossoms, apricot blossoms, and various unnamed wildflowers bloom competitively within the canyon, displaying vibrant colors and filling the air with fragrance. Spring swallows, cuckoos, larks, and various other rare birds sing melodiously. In summer, cool breezes blow through the canyon, willows sway gently, and the ground is covered with knee-high green grass, resembling a green carpet laid out especially for visitors. In autumn, the canyon is laden with abundant fruit, with apples blushing red and pear trees bending under the weight of their fruit. Throughout all four seasons, streams flow gently — at slower sections murmuring like plucked strings, and at faster sections drumming like battle beats. At several areas with significant elevation drops, waterfalls are formed. Looking up from below, the roaring sound of the water and splashing droplets evoke thoughts of the famous line by Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai: “falling straight down three thousand feet.” In winter, Shenlong Grand Canyon presents a completely different scene — after heavy snow, everything is covered in silvery white, the pine and cypress trees appear even more verdant, and icicles several feet long can be seen everywhere. Beneath the ice where the water remains unfrozen, fish still swim and shrimp continue to leap. Most remarkably, the oddly-shaped rocks on both sides of the canyon resemble whispering lovers, nostalgic elderly couples, or objects and figures so lifelike that they are truly astonishing. It is truly a place where every glance reveals a new scene, and every step brings a new view.
