Moshanyu Village is located in the northern part of Fangcun Town, at the southern foot of Mount Culai, with the renowned Dawen River flowing southwest of the village. It covers an area of approximately 409.59 hectares. The village consists of three natural hamlets, with 151 households and a population of over 400. The overall terrain features a mix of mid- and low-altitude mountains and river valleys. The area mainly comprises five valleys: Moshanyu, Honggou, Caopo, Erlangyu, and Ziziyu. The highest point reaches an elevation of 452 meters. The mountains are dotted with peculiar rocks, lush vegetation, and blooming flowers throughout spring, summer, and autumn, creating a vibrant scene. The area is rich in water resources, with crystal-clear streams running through the village and interconnected pools and waterfalls in the valleys. With abundant trees, flowers, and greenery, as well as numerous unique rocks, the village is nestled between mountains and water—entering Moshanyu feels like stepping into a paradise on earth. Major attractions include Tianchi (Heavenly Lake), Fayun Lake, Honggou Scenic Area, Fayun Buddhist Temple, the Anti-Japanese Martyrs' Monument, Immortal Bridge, Camel Rock, Guanyin Preaching Stone, and the spot where Li Bai is said to have drunkenly reclined—too many to list.

Honggou Scenic Area: The valley is winding and serene, connecting Tianchi uphill and Fayun Lake downhill. The mountain springs are clear, flowing year-round, with waterfalls and pools scattered throughout. The scene of “moonlight filtering through pines and spring water flowing over stones” is typical here. The area boasts lush wildflowers and grasses, as well as giant stone turtles, Guanyin Preaching Stone, Immortal Bridge, Immortal Canopy, and the Heavenly Pond Wonderland. The Heavenly Pond Wonderland is surrounded by mountains, with deep, clear waters and high surrounding greenery. It offers picturesque lake-and-mountain views and layered peaks, creating a tranquil and mysterious atmosphere with few visitors. It is home to large wild fish and other species. The pristine, pollution-free mountain environment is highly attractive to tourists and holds significant development potential. From the mountaintop, looking north, you’ll see vast, lush mountain ranges; looking south, you’ll enjoy boundless farmland with dense forest networks, along with one of the Eight Great Views of Mount Tai—the “Jade Belt of the Dawen River”—winding gracefully at the foot of Mount Culai. This view instantly broadens the mind, refreshes the spirit, and inspires awe.

Red Tourism Resources: After the July 7th Incident in 1937, following the Central Committee’s directive to carry out guerrilla warfare behind enemy lines and establish anti-Japanese bases, the Shandong Provincial Committee set up a command post in Moshanyu Village. They engaged with locals to promote resistance against Japan, recruited soldiers, and formed a militia, firing the first shot of the uprising here. (To this day, remnants of the command post, martyrs’ graves, and a valley named “Shaodi Gou” after local anti-Japanese cadre Shaodi remain.) On January 1, 1938, under the leadership of the Shandong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, the people of Shandong held an anti-Japanese armed uprising at Sisan Temple. The Culai Mountain Anti-Japanese Armed Uprising, personally led by Provincial Committee Secretary Li Yu, holds significant importance in Party history and made major contributions to both the War of Resistance Against Japan and the Liberation War.

Due to its location in a hilly mountainous area, backed by the Mount Culai National Forest Park, the village enjoys excellent air quality and unpolluted, clear water. It produces a variety of pollution-free green products, including aquatic products (fish and shrimp), agricultural goods (wheat, corn, sweet potatoes, millet, soybeans, peanuts, etc.), and forest fruits (apples, walnuts, chestnuts, hawthorn, peaches, persimmons, apricots, cherries, etc.), all of which are highly appealing to tourists.

The village’s two committees place great emphasis on tourism development. Over the years, they have built 15 kilometers of roads, renovated multiple streams and ponds, reinforced two reservoirs for safety, planted over 100,000 trees, and introduced projects such as the Erlangyu Eco-Resort, standardized poultry eco-farming, wild boar farming, and two rural homestays, gradually improving tourism facilities. In 2009, over 300,000 yuan was invested in comprehensive tourism planning. This year, plans include widening and renovating 3 kilometers of roads (currently under construction) and constructing 3 kilometers of new sightseeing paths (with foundation work scheduled for this year and completion by the first half of next year). The village has established a tourism development company and a tourism development preparatory management office, among other service and management institutions.
