Western Yuan Head Han Tombs

The Western Yuan Head Han Tombs are a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Hebei Province.

Western Yuan Head Han Tombs. Located about 500 meters northwest of Xiyuantou Village in present-day Jizhou Town. The earthen mound is 7 meters high, 42 meters from east to west, 38 meters from north to south, covering an area of 1,500 square meters.

In 1968, someone dug a gap at the southwest corner of the tomb, which was later stopped. In 1981, there was further digging activity on the southwest side of the mound, which was then filled in. In February 1995, villagers from the village dug four holes with a diameter of 60 centimeters and a depth of 1 meter while trapping badgers on the mound. After being discovered by the city’s cultural relics management office, they were ordered to fill them in.

On July 15, 1993, the Western Yuan Head Han Tombs were designated as a provincial-level cultural heritage protection unit by the People’s Government of Hebei Province.
