The Daiyue Martyrs' Cemetery is a Shandong Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit and a patriotic education base.

The Daiyue Martyrs' Cemetery in Tai'an City, Shandong Province was established in July 1946. At that time, it featured a memorial archway (Martyrs of the Anti-Japanese War Cemetery), two stone tablets, and the memorial archway was inscribed by Lin Hujia, former Secretary of the Tai Shan Prefectural Committee of the Communist Party of China, and Zhao Dusheng, then Commissioner of the Administrative Office. The nationally renowned calligrapher Wu Zhongqi wrote “Martyrs of the Anti-Japanese War Cemetery,” and Qi Wei, the County Chief of Tai'an County, wrote the inscription on the tablet. In 2015, it was designated as a “Provincial-Level Cultural Relics Protection Unit.”

As a revolutionary base area, Daiyue District was the birthplace of the anti-Japanese resistance in Shandong Province. It witnessed the famous Culai Mountain Anti-Japanese Armed Uprising and the Tai Xi Anti-Japanese Armed Uprising, boasting a glorious revolutionary tradition. To honor the revolutionary martyrs and commemorate those who sacrificed their lives in the War of Resistance against Japan, in July 1946, the former Tai'an County Party Committee and County Government planned and built the Anti-Japanese Martyrs' Cemetery in Zhuyang Town, Daiyue District.

Currently, this cemetery is the only Anti-Japanese Martyrs' Cemetery in Tai'an City. It is the burial site of martyrs who died in the Culai Mountain Anti-Japanese Armed Uprising, the Tai Xi Anti-Japanese Armed Uprising, the Erwang’an Breakout Battle, the Tongjiazhuang Ambush Battle, the Liangjialin Battle, and other battles during the War of Resistance. Over the past three years, more than 10 million yuan has been invested in the renovation and expansion of the cemetery. Its main commemorative facilities now include a memorial monument, a relief wall, a memorial archway, a martyrs’ tomb area, and an exhibition hall. The exhibition hall covers a construction area of 500 square meters, with an exhibition space of over 1,000 square meters, and the tomb area houses more than 800 martyrs’ graves. The Daiyue Martyrs' Cemetery has been recognized by the provincial government as a “Provincial-Level Martyrs’ Memorial Facility” and a “Provincial-Level Cultural Relics Protection Unit.” It has also been designated as a “Shandong Provincial Party History Education Base” by the Provincial Party History Research Office and included in the “Second Batch of National-level Anti-Japanese War Memorial Facilities and Sites” by the State Council.

After years of renovation and maintenance, the surroundings of the Daiyue Martyrs' Cemetery have become clean, beautiful, solemn, and respectful. It has evolved into a patriotic education base that integrates humanization, openness, standardization, and ecological landscaping. Each year, it receives over 10,000 visitors for commemorative activities. During Tomb-Sweeping Day and Martyrs' Memorial Day, representatives from the district’s Party, government, military, and various sectors of society hold public memorial ceremonies for the martyrs here. These efforts have achieved significant educational and promotional outcomes, actively contributing to the district’s commemoration of martyrs, inheritance and promotion of the revolutionary traditions of the martyrs, and motivation of officials and the public to engage in enthusiastic work and entrepreneurship.
