The site of the First Party Branch in Western Shandong is a classic red tourism attraction.

The site of the “First Party Branch in Western Shandong” is located in Xuzhuang Village, Guyun Town, Shenxian County — the southwesternmost rural area of Liaocheng on the border between Shandong and Henan. The village established its Party branch in 1935. During the war years, it was known as the “8th Route Army Village” and the “Martyrs’ Village,” and enjoyed the reputation of being the “Little Yan’an on the Plain.” A book titled Red Party Flag in Xuzhuang was also written about it. It was inscribed by Zhang Quanjing, former Minister of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, as the “First Party Branch in Western Shandong — Xuzhuang Party Branch.” The site covers an area of 40,000 square meters, with the main exhibition hall spanning 1,200 square meters across two floors and featuring the first large-scale map made using flat water.
