The Former Site of Dongwuyang City is located northwest of Xiduantun Village, Shibalipu, also known as the Xiduantun Ruins, and is now a key cultural relic protection unit of Liaocheng City.

The site sits on a high platform about 1.5 meters above the ground, surrounded by flat terrain, covering an area of approximately 12,000 square meters. Based on exposed relics, the cultural stratum reaches a depth of about 1 meter, with scattered ash pits and trenches. According to some local chronicles and historical studies, this was the site of Dongwuyang City during the Han Dynasty.

The Great Dictionary of Ancient Chinese Place Names states: Dongwuyang got its name because the county was located on the north side of the Wu River. In the second year of the Chuping era in the late Eastern Han Dynasty, Yuan Shao appointed Cao Cao as the Governor of Dongjun as a reward, with its seat at Dongwuyang. Later, Zang Hong also served as Governor of Dongjun, with the seat also in Dongwuyang. During the Later Wei period, Dongwuyang was renamed Yayang County, and in the Tang Dynasty it was called Chaoyang. The Geographic Records say: The La River originates from Dongwuyang; today, the La River receives water from the Yellow River southeast of Wuyang County, then flows northwest past the east of the new city of Wuyang, where Cao Cao governed Dongjun. Water was channeled from a stone gate in the east city wall, flowing north into the Tang Pond, with the ancient foundation still remaining to the south of the pond. In the middle of the city lies a stone platform. The west gate of the outer city was called Bingjing Gate; inside the curved section of the gate, the ice well still remains. Outside the gate lies an ancient platform known as Wuyang Platform, which also shows remnants of corner battlements. The water flows northeast out of the city, passing south of the former site of Dongwuyang County. Ying Shao noted: The county is located on the north side of the Wu River. It was also known as Wuchang under Wang Mang. Therefore, the La River may have also been called the Wu River. Zang Hong served as Governor of Dongjun, governing from here.

Shibalipu Town: Located 6 kilometers south of Shenxian County, Shibalipu Town in Shenxian County has a population of 51,000, cultivable land of 86,000 mu, and administers 87 administrative villages. The town covers an area of 107 square kilometers, making it the largest township in Shenxian County by area.

In recent years, the town’s Party committee and government have focused on accelerating economic development, aiming to build the town through industry, strengthen it with private enterprise, and enrich its people via agricultural restructuring. Based on the town’s actual conditions, they have fostered awareness of large-scale investment attraction, openness, and development, vigorously adjusted the industrial structure, developed the private economy, and effectively promoted overall economic growth and social progress.
