Xinghu Park

Xinghu Park is located in the center of Jinxiang County. Though not large in size, its beautiful environment attracts many people who come here daily to exercise and relax.

On the western side of Xinghu Park lies the Guangshan Temple Pagoda, which has nine stories, eight sides, and eight angles. Directly north of the pagoda is a grand gate. Elders say that it used to be in very poor condition because it was damaged during wartime, but it has since been restored.

Walking east from the Guangshan Temple Pagoda, you’ll arrive at the Wenyuan Pavilion. This two-story building features a roof completely covered in yellow glazed tiles that shimmer golden in the sunlight. In front of it stand eight coiling-dragon pillars, intricately carved with dragons mid-roar, their claws extended as they twist through clouds. The second pillar from the west depicts two dragons playing with a pearl — their mouths wide open as if ready to leap off the pillar, incredibly lifelike. On the eastern and western sides of the pavilion are five square pillars each, adorned with various carvings. One pillar shows two monkeys: a mischievous one reaching for a beehive, angering the bees. The swarm splits up — some head for the monkey bothering the hive, while others chase after another monkey innocently eating a peach. It’s quite amusing.

Leaving the Wenyuan Pavilion, you can walk along the zigzag bridge to reach the Kuixing Tower. It has three stories and a roof covered in orange-yellow glazed tiles. Each of its four corners is adorned with a wind chime that tinkles melodiously in the breeze. Surrounded by water on all sides, the Kuixing Tower offers particularly picturesque scenery.

The lakeside is lined with weeping willows, and the paths are flanked by beautiful banyan trees. In summer, the willow branches sway gently over the water, and the banyan flowers fill the air with fragrance. Strolling through the park during this season feels especially refreshing.

Though small, Xinghu Park is a beloved spot for locals in Jinxiang to unwind and enjoy leisure time.
