Tomb Book Terrace

The Tomb Platform is also known as the Tomb Book Terrace; its former name was the Book-Burning Terrace. It is located behind the academy, to the left of the Hall of Humanity and Righteousness. In the Yuan Dynasty, County Magistrate Liu Siyi built the Lecture Hall of Literature on it. It was a place for storing ancient books, also referred to as "Fen Dian" (Classics Repository).

Zhu Youfeng wrote: “The ancient classics have long ceased to exist; who now imparts their profound truths? Only the desolate terrace of old books remains, its mossy surface patterned like embroidery.”

Wang Shangjue wrote: “Majestically east of the college grounds, the towering terrace stands proudly. Lush with vines and creepers in dark green, it abruptly rises beside the city walls. The former plain of Jinxian has long been level—how did this rise come to be? Some say it’s the accumulation of ashes from the time of book burning.”
