Yangshan Lake Water Conservancy Scenic Area

Yangshan Lake Water Conservancy Scenic Area is a national water conservancy scenic area.

The scenic area is situated in Jinxiang County, Jining City, and is developed based on the Yangshan Canal, Yangshan Lake, and Geshan Lake projects. It is a soil and water conservation-type water conservancy scenic area. With a total area of 2.27 square kilometers, including 0.37 square kilometers of water area, the scenic area integrates landscape and rock appreciation, patriotic education, military strategy displays, tourism, and leisure entertainment.

The area features rare and unique landscapes of mountains, waters, and stone forests. Yangshan Lake and Geshan Lake were originally quarry pits left from stone mining. Underground water accumulated to form lakes within the hills. The lake water is crystal clear with visible fish swimming, and the area is dotted with numerous islands and uniquely shaped rocks. The diverse and striking rock formations, together with the surrounding scenery, create a rare and fascinating mountain-water-stone forest landscape, known as the "Stone Forest of Northern China." The scenic area also boasts rich red cultural resources. It houses structures such as the Memorial Hall of the Southwest Shandong Campaign, the Memorial Hall of Wang Jie, stele corridors, an arms park, martyrs' cemeteries, and the Liu-Deng Sculpture Group. It serves as an excellent platform for visitors to revisit revolutionary history, learn about heroic deeds, and strengthen patriotic education. The area has been designated as a National Patriotic Education Demonstration Base, a National Defense Education Demonstration Base, and a National Red Revolutionary Education Base. Additionally, the scenic area offers thrilling leisure and recreational activities. The Thirty-Six Stratagems Theme Park connects various sites along an intelligent route, blending fun with a grand experience, integrating brilliant military wisdom into every classic spot, allowing visitors to enjoy the landscape gardens while gaining life insights through play. The Geshan Lake Water Park features a full range of water activities and well-equipped facilities, offering opportunities for water fun, surfing, and drifting adventures. It is currently the largest water park in Southwest Shandong.

In 2011, Yangshan Lake Water Conservancy Scenic Area was rated as a Shandong Provincial Water Conservancy Scenic Area. Pengyue Lake Wetland within the area was also designated as a provincial wetland park in the same year. In 2012, the scenic area was awarded the status of a National AAAA-level Tourist Attraction.

Yangshan Town: Located in the hinterland of Southwest Shandong, in the northwest of Jinxiang County—known as China’s hometown of garlic—the town sits at the junction of Jining and Heze cities, and Jinxiang, Jiaxiang, and Juye counties.
