Introduction to Baixiang Han Peony Garden in Xingtai

The Han Peony Garden in Baixiang County is located between Xingtai City and Shijiazhuang, 60 kilometers south of Xingtai, 70 kilometers north of Shijiazhuang, and 8 kilometers west of the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, National Highway 107, and the Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway. It is also 20 kilometers west of Kongshan White Cloud Cave and 20 kilometers north of Zhaozhou Bridge, offering convenient transportation. In 2001, the garden underwent large-scale development and construction and now covers nearly 500 acres (330,000 square meters). The garden features the divine Han Peony as the centerpiece among a vast array of flowers, showcasing over 800 precious varieties of peonies and tree peonies from nine major domestic strains, including those from Luoyang, Heze, Anhui, Gansu, and the Institute of Botany of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It has also introduced over 100 foreign peony varieties from Japan, the United States, France, and other countries, bringing together the finest peonies and tree peonies from around the world, making it a conservation area for peony and tree peony varieties in China. Within the Han Peony Garden, there are more than twenty scenic spots, including the Divine Flower Garden, Stele Corridor, Calligraphy and Painting Room, Wuxiao Garden, Mirror Flower Garden, Purple Cloud Corridor, Qifeng Lake, statues of the Peony Fairy and Tree Peony Fairy, Flower Exhibition Hall, sunlight greenhouse for out-of-season blooming peonies, peony and tree peony propagation and sales area, and a high-tech agricultural ecological picking garden spanning over 200 acres. Today, the Han Peony Garden is the most comprehensive and largest specialized garden in the world in terms of peony and tree peony varieties. From mid-April to late May each year, peonies and tree peonies bloom in succession, attracting swarms of bees and butterflies, filling the garden with fragrance and drawing large numbers of visitors.
