Datai Site

The Datai Site is a cultural relic protection unit of Shandong Province.

The Datai Site is located 200 meters east of Dongguan Village in Chengwu Town, also known as Shoufeng and historically referred to as Dongtai. It was a high ground built by ancient people to avoid floods. From August 1963 to November 1982, Radar Company 8 of a certain Air Force unit of the Beijing Military Region was stationed at Datai, with antennas installed on the top of the site. In 1964, the intrusion of a U.S. U-2 reconnaissance aircraft was detected. The unit was collectively awarded a Third-Class Merit.

Through multiple investigations, research, and the discovery of a large number of relics, it has been proven that the Datai Site holds significant archaeological value. It is not only one of the earliest human settlement sites within Chengwu, but also a burial site from the Warring States period, as well as a temple site from various dynasties after the Southern and Northern Dynasties. In June 1992, it was designated as a Key Cultural Relic Protection Unit of Shandong Province.
