"Dao Yuan Yifeng" Residential House

The "Dao Yuan Yifeng" residential house is a cultural heritage site protected by Chongren County.

The "Dao Yuan Yifeng" residential house is located in Tashang Village Group, Changren Village Committee, Sanshan Township. Built in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republican period, it features a single-entry layout with a central courtyard, and has a flush-gable roof with a through-tenon structure. Yu Ji, a renowned scholar, poet, and calligrapher of the Yuan Dynasty — also known by his courtesy name Boshi, art names Dao Yuan, Qingcheng Qiaozhe, Sha’an Xiansheng, and Zhiting Laoren — was originally from Renshou, Sichuan, born in Hengyang, Hunan, and later settled in Chongren, Jiangxi. He served in various official capacities under several Yuan emperors, from Emperor Chengzong to Emperor Shundi, eventually holding the posts of Hanlin Academician-Director and concurrently National University Grand Master, as well as Academician-Scriptor at the Kuizhang Pavilion. During the Yuan Wenzong era, he compiled the "Jingshi Dadian" (Grand Compendium for Governing the World) and authored the "Dao Yuan Xuegu Lu" (Dao Yuan’s Record of Learning from Antiquity), which includes accounts of his time in Chongren. After his death, the imperial court posthumously conferred upon him the titles of Provincial Administration Commissioner of Jiangxi and Provincial Scholar-Official, granted him the military title of Protector-General, and ennobled him as Duke of Jishou Commandery with the posthumous name Wenjing. This building holds significant value for the study of Yu Ji's thought and traditional culture.
