"Zhonglie Mansion" Residential House

The "Zhonglie Mansion" residential house is a cultural relic protection unit of Chongren County.

The "Zhonglie Mansion" residential house is located in Qimen Village Group, Tangren Village Committee, Heshang Town, Chongren County. It is a building from the Republican era, featuring a single straight structure with a courtyard behind the main hall. The roof is of the flush-gable and post-and-lintel style, with horse-head gables standing 6.6 meters high. There is a 0- above the main hall. The house covers an area of approximately 280 square meters. The decorative arch above the main gate is missing, and the stone plaque is inscribed with the three large characters “Zhonglie Mansion.” Both side chambers feature carved patterns of flowers and birds on their wooden beams.

According to the 1990 edition of the Chongren County Annals: Dai Yongzhang (1862–1939), styled Wenren, was a native of Tangsheng Village, Chongren County (now Tangsheng Village, Heshang Town). He graduated from Mingde Primary School in Fengcheng County in 1926 (the 15th year of the Republic of China) and attended Nanchang No. 1 Middle School before dropping out in 1931 (the 20th year of the Republic of China). When Japanese invaders attacked China’s northeastern provinces, he was filled with righteous indignation and left his pen for the sword. In September 1933 (the 22nd year of the Republic of China), he applied to the Central Aviation School and graduated in the sixth cohort. After graduation, he served as the captain of the Fifth Squadron of the Sixth Air Group of the Chinese Air Force. When the Marco Polo Bridge Incident broke out, he bid farewell to his father and newlywed wife to join the War of Resistance against Japan. After three intense aerial battles, he shot down two Japanese aircraft over Jiangsu, earning military honors. On September 30, 1937 (the 26th year of the Republic of China), he died heroically in an air battle over Henan, sacrificing his life for the country. His remains were buried in Zhoujiakou, Henan Province.

The "Zhonglie Mansion" residential house is a memorial structure dedicated to the martyr Dai Yongzhang. Protecting the "Zhonglie Mansion" is of great significance in promoting patriotism and the indomitable and self-reliant spirit of the Chinese nation.
