Tomb of Huang Shang
The Tomb of Huang Shang is a cultural relic protection unit of Chongren County.
The Tomb of Huang Shang is located on Guo-shaped Mountain in Huangfang Village Group, Huangfang Village Committee, Xufang Township. Huang Shang (1044–1130), courtesy name Mianzhong, was a native of Yanping (present-day Fujian). He was the top scholar in the fifth year of Emperor Shenzong of the Northern Song Dynasty (1082). He served as Academician of the Duanming Hall and Minister of Rites, and was posthumously honored as Grand Tutor. He was a renowned writer and ci poet of the Northern Song Dynasty, with numerous representative works. His ci poetry is known for its bright and beautiful language, like spring water and jade, captivating readers. He authored the “Collected Works of Mr. Yanshan” and “Ci Poems of Yanshan,” among which the “Reduced-Character Magnolia Flowers” is the most famous. In Jin Yong’s novel “The Legend of the Condor Heroes,” he is referred to as the author of the “Nine Yin True Scripture.” Huang Shang was originally buried in Yihuang County but was relocated to Guo-shaped Mountain in Huangfang, Chongren County in the 18th year of the Daoguang reign during the Qing Dynasty due to the relocation of Yihuang County. The people of Huangfang in Chongren are all his descendants. The current tomb was rebuilt in 1995. The Tomb of Huang Shang holds significant importance for the study of Huang Shang.
