The former site of the Xiazhang Party Branch is located in Xiazhang Village, Matoushan Town, Zixi County, and served as the founding base of the first Party branch in Fujian–Jiangxi. It is situated close to Guixi County. It is a county-level cultural heritage protection unit. (In 2014, funding was secured for its renovation.) In August 1927, the Jiangbei organization of the Chinese Communist Party dispatched Gong Xiangru and Yang Haiting from Guixi County to propagate revolutionary ideals among the paper-making workers in Xiazhang Village and secretly recruit Party members. They admitted individuals such as Gong Puxiang, Zhao JieXiong, and Zhang Shengxing into the Chinese Communist Party. In November of the same year, the first Party branch in Fujian–Jiangxi was established, and Gong Xiangru was elected as the branch secretary. In 2005, it was listed as a red education base in the county.
