Former Site of the First Xunwu County Workers' Congress (Jiaobei Weilong House)

The Former Site of the First Xunwu County Workers' Congress (Jiaobei Weilong House) is a cultural relic protection unit of Xunwu County.

The Jiaobei Weilong House is located in Jiaobei Group, Jinxing Village, Chengguang Town, and was originally built during the Shunzhi era of the Qing Dynasty (1644–1661). The Weilong House faces east and features a layout of two courtyards, three halls, two wing rooms, two wings, two enclosed sections, one gate tower, with a “three-peak” fireproof gable wall on the front facade of the main hall. It has three bays, a post-and-lintel construction, a flush-gable roof, and is covered with gold-wrapped-silver large tiles. In front of the main gate there is a crescent-shaped pond, to the left of the gate tower there is a “sun”-shaped pond, and at the back there is a crescent-shaped flower terrace. Four symmetrical wooden pillars and six symmetrical stone pillars support the upper, middle, and lower halls. The lintel of the main gate is inscribed with the characters “朝陽抱秀” (Sunrise Embracing Elegance), and the lintel of the gate tower is inscribed with “三省流微” (Flowing Grace from Three Provinces). The Jiaobei Weilong House is large in scale, logically laid out, structurally stable, and exhibits typical characteristics of Guangdong-style Weilong Houses. The side view, especially the presence of sun and moon-shaped ponds in front of the house, is extremely rare locally. It is one of the more intact and large-scale Weilong Houses preserved in the county, possessing high historical, artistic, and scientific research value.

On August 19, 1930, the First Xunwu County Workers' Congress was held here. A total of 130 delegates attended, including representatives from the Xunwu County Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Xunwu County Committee of the Communist Youth League, and the Xunwu County Soviet Government. This congress elected the Xunwu County General Trade Union with Zhao Guanpeng as chairman, and passed four resolutions: 1) how to organize workers to rise up in struggle; 2) mobilizing workers to join the Red Army and expand the Red Army; 3) organizing workers to support the front lines; and preferential treatment for the Red Army regulations and issues of consoling workers and peasants. After the meeting, the “Workers’ Ten-Day Periodical” was also published. Subsequently, under the leadership of the Party, the County General Trade Union actively organized the broad masses of handicraft workers and farm laborers to participate in the revolutionary struggle, making them a backbone force in the agrarian revolution. They made positive contributions in smashing the enemy’s “encirclement campaigns,” breaking through the enemy’s economic blockade, developing the economy of the Soviet area, supporting and expanding the Red Army, and joining the army to fight in battles.

On August 27, 2012, the People's Government of Xunwu County designated it as a county-level cultural relic protection unit.
