The Group of Revolutionary Sites in Zhenxia

The Group of Revolutionary Sites in Zhenxia is a cultural heritage protection unit of Jiangxi Province.

The Group of Revolutionary Sites in Zhenxia (including the Site of the Battle of Zhenxia, the Former Site of the Headquarters and Political Department of the Fourth Red Army in Zhenxia, and the Former Site of the Luofuzhang Meeting), in March 2018, was announced as part of the sixth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage protection units in Jiangxi Province.

The Site of the Battle of Zhenxia is located in Zhenxia Village, Jitan Town, Xunwu County. It was originally built in the early Qing Dynasty and was formerly the ancestral hall of the Liu family (Gong’anwei).

On February 2, 1929, the main force of the Fourth Red Army led by Mao Zedong and Zhu De passed through Zhenxia Village in Jitan Town, Xunwu County while establishing new bases in southern Jiangxi and western Fujian, and engaged in fierce battle here with the pursuing forces of Liu Shiyi.

The Former Site of the Headquarters and Political Department of the Fourth Red Army in Zhenxia is located in Zhenxia Village, Jitan Town, Xunwu County. It was originally built in the third year of the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty (1557) and was formerly the Zhenxia Wenchang Pavilion. On January 14, 1929, Mao Zedong, Zhu De, and others led the Fourth Red Army down from Jinggangshan to establish revolutionary bases in southern Jiangxi and western Fujian. On February 1, they arrived at Zhenxia Village for the night, and the headquarters and political department of the Fourth Red Army were stationed here. Mao Zedong, Chen Yi, Tan Zhenlin, Jiang Hua, and others also stayed here. In the early hours of February 2, Mao Zedong directed the Fourth Red Army to respond calmly, successfully breaking free from the surprise attack and encirclement by the pursuing enemy, and reached Luofuzhang safely.
