Yashan Forest Park is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Yashan is situated on the outskirts of Dayu County, a historic and cultural city in southern Jiangxi. Its highest peak reaches an altitude of 906.2 meters. For thousands of years, Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism have complemented and merged here. The scenic area covers more than 30,000 acres, with a forest coverage rate of 92.6%. The mountain is home to beautiful forests, clusters of waterfalls, clear bamboo, fragrant tea, and a wide variety of rare flowers and plants. The area also boasts an exceptionally high concentration of negative oxygen ions. With such unique natural conditions and a rich historical and cultural heritage, Yashan has been shaped into a “sanctuary of health and a paradise of joy.” Here, you can cultivate your mind and body while enjoying nature.

Yashan Forest Park is located 9.5 kilometers from the county town, covering an area of over 3,000 acres with a forest coverage rate of over 80%. The park is home to many precious tree species, including podocarpus, ginkgo, and nageia, as well as dozens of rare wild animals such as sambar deer and pangolins. Attractions within the park include the Yashan Lingyan Ancient Temple and the Yashan Longshan Waterfall Group. The scenic area is picturesque and serves as a comprehensive destination where natural landscapes such as mountains, forests, springs, and temples blend with numerous cultural sites. It is also a provincial-level scenic spot.

The Yashan Longshan Waterfall Group is located in the heart of Yashan, stretching approximately 4 kilometers in length. The waterfalls are distributed in a terraced formation, featuring over 20 large and small cascades. The area is crisscrossed with ravines, sheer cliffs, hanging waterfalls, serene forests, clear springs, and a pleasant climate.

Inside the Lingyan Ancient Temple of the Meiguan–Yashan National Forest Park in Dayu County, there are two thousand-year-old ironwood trees. One resembles the Chinese character “丫” (meaning “fork”) and the other the character “山” (meaning “mountain”), leaving many visitors in awe of nature’s remarkable craftsmanship.

These two ironwood trees are located in the northeast and northwest corners behind the Mahavira Hall of the temple. They stand about 4 meters tall, with trunks approximately 0.8 meters in diameter. The one in the northeast corner takes the shape of a “丫,” with its trunk bending 70 degrees to the southeast and extending about 1.8 meters horizontally. The tree in the northwest corner grows between rocks, with its central trunk standing straight and the side trunks slightly concave and tilted outward. Its canopy covers an area of about 10 square meters, resembling an ancient-looking “山” from a distance. Both trees remain vibrant and lush. Their unique shapes coincidentally match the name of the local mountain, “Yashan” (Fork Mountain), making them treasured landmarks. According to a monk at the temple in his 70s, the peculiar appearances of these trees had gone unnoticed until a boy around seven or eight years old recently discovered their distinctive forms. Word quickly spread, attracting waves of curious visitors.
