Former Site of the Dayu Battle of the Fourth Red Army

The former site of the Dayu Battle of the Fourth Red Army is located in the northeastern suburbs of the county, on Tianzhu Ridge, Ximu Ridge, and Dongshan Ridge. The next morning, while assembling for breakfast, the 28th Regiment of the Red Army was suddenly attacked by the 21st Brigade of the Nationalist Army under Li Wenbin. During the battle, over a hundred cadres and soldiers were killed in action, including He Tingying, the Party representative of the 28th Regiment, Zhang Wei, commander of the Independent Battalion, Zhou Fang, commander of the 31st Regiment’s battalion, and Zheng Te, commander of the 28th Regiment’s Special Company. As night fell, the Fourth Red Army withdrew from the battlefield and moved toward Shangyangmei, Xiayangmei, and Wujing in Nanxiong County at the border of Jiangxi and Guangdong. Due to urban redevelopment, the aforementioned historical sites have been demolished, leaving only remnants of the battlefield.
