Sanxi Taoist Temple Village in Gan County is located in Taoist Temple Village, about ten li east of the town center of Sanxi Township, Gan County. It was built during the Zhenguan era (reign of Emperor Li Shimin) of the Tang Dynasty and has a history of over a thousand years. Taoist Temple Village is a sacred site of Taoist culture. Legend has it that the master of Zhang Daoling from Mount Longhu built a Taoist temple here, which speaks volumes about its profound cultural heritage. Sanxi Taoist Temple Village is not only a center of Taoist culture but also a scenic tourist destination featuring unique and picturesque Danxia landform. The Danxia landscape here resembles the karst scenery of Guilin, yet surpasses it — it looks like a “Flame Mountain” in Danxia hues and also like a towering “Pillar Reaching the Heavens.” It is a comprehensive sightseeing destination that combines Taoist culture with naturally beautiful landscapes.
