Baolian West Lake is located within the boundaries of Datian Township and Dabu Township in Gan County. It is currently 30 kilometers from downtown Ganzhou City and 23 kilometers from the county seat of Gan County. The lake area is belt-shaped and situated in the lower reaches of Taojiang River, one of the two major tributaries of the Gong River, which itself is a major branch of the Gan River. A hydropower station, Julongtan Power Station, has been built within the lake area, with its dam site controlling a drainage area of 7,739 square kilometers. The lake area stretches for a total length of 29 kilometers, covers a total area of 30 square kilometers, has a water surface area of 5.7 square kilometers, a normal water storage level of 122 meters, and a water storage capacity of 73.6 million cubic meters. The lake area lies between Datian and Dabu townships, with the core scenic zone located within Dabu Township. The region features three types of landforms, mostly low mountains with elevations below 600 meters. The reservoir area boasts overlapping peaks, peculiar mountains and rocks, steep cliffs with cascading waterfalls, clear springs, lake islands, and various other captivating natural landscapes. The lake area enjoys a warm climate with distinct seasons, misty clouds, no severe cold in winter or intense heat in summer, making it an ideal destination for leisure and resort tourism development.

Datian Township: Datian Township is located in the central-eastern part of Gan County, in the lower reaches of Taojiang River. It covers a total area of 110.7 square kilometers, is 16 kilometers from the county seat, and governs 9 village committees and 104 villager groups, with a total population of 14,786. The terrain in the township is complex, mainly consisting of hills among mountainous areas, interspersed with river valley plains. The Gan-Chang Highway runs through the township for 16 kilometers.
