Xingfu Hall

Xingfu Hall is situated at the southern end of the ancient residential complex in Bailu Village, Bailu Township, Ganxian District, Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, approximately 63 kilometers northeast of the county town. Constructed during the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty (year unspecified), it faces south and is built from brick and timber. The hall spans five bays in width, has four courtyards in depth, and includes two wing rooms, as well as side chambers on the east and rows of attached houses. It is wider at the front and tapers toward the rear, with a width of 23.4 meters and a depth of 40.5 meters, covering an area of 947.7 square meters. It employs a post-and-lintel construction style, features a flush gable roof, and is paved with bricks. The entrance gate tower is three bays wide and three stories tall without supporting columns, and is accompanied by a front courtyard and enclosing wall. The gate of the east-side row house is fitted with a doorway porch, and above the screen wall of the third courtyard hangs a wooden plaque inscribed with the name “Xingfu Hall.”

Xingfu Hall is a typical example of a Hakka residential and ancestral worship building, prominently showcasing the “four waters returning to the hall” layout characteristic of structures built around a central open courtyard. The hall’s spacious layout offers excellent ventilation and lighting, making it one of the best-preserved buildings within the ancient village complex. It holds significant research and preservation value. In 2003, it was re-designated as part of the first batch of County-Level Cultural Relics Protection Units, and in 2006, it was listed as a Provincial-Level Protected Site.

Bailu Village: Located in the northern part of Bailu Township, Ganxian District, Jiangxi Province, Bailu Village lies about 63 kilometers from Ganzhou City. The settlement of Bailu dates back to the Shang and Zhou dynasties, and it gradually flourished over time. Today, the village is home to nearly 600 households and a population of 2,500. Shaped like a crescent moon, the village covers an area of 0.2 square kilometers. Among its 60,000 square meters of historic architecture, there are more than 140 well-preserved Hakka residences that are over a century old. The traditional buildings, characterized by their classic gray bricks and black tiles, were mostly constructed during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
