Peiyu Hall

Peiyu Hall is situated in Group 7, Bailu Village, Bailu Township, Ganzhou County, Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, approximately 63 kilometers northeast of the county center. Constructed in 1919 (the eighth year of the Republic of China), it faces south and is built with a brick-and-wood structure. The hall spans 22.35 meters in width and 26.35 meters in depth, covering a total area of 589 square meters. It has a post-and-lintel framework with a flush gable roof and tiled flooring. The structure consists of three bays and two courtyards, along with west-side front and rear rooms, a central well, side chambers, as well as miscellaneous rooms. There are also front side chambers on the north and south sides, and a front courtyard paved with pebbles enclosed by a wall. The entrance is a memorial archway-style gatehouse with three bays and three stories, adorned with grey-relief carvings featuring figures, flowers and birds, and clocks. Inside, wooden carved leg-rest screens are placed on the eastern and western sides of the inner courtyard.

Among local residences (complexes), Peiyu Hall is the latest-built structure with an absolute recorded date. Its structural layout is rigorous, its decoration exquisite and unique, and it possesses distinctive characteristics, making it of certain value to the study of regional vernacular architecture. In 2003, it was re-designated as part of the first batch of County-Level Cultural Relics Protection Units, and in 2006, it was listed as a Provincial-Level Protected Unit.

Bailu Village: Bailu Village is located in the northern part of Bailu Township, Ganzhou County, Jiangxi Province, about 63 kilometers from Ganzhou City. The village dates back to the Shang and Zhou dynasties when it first formed as a human settlement, and it has flourished ever since. Currently, Bailu Village is home to nearly 600 households and 2,500 residents. The village is shaped like a crescent moon and covers an area of 0.2 square kilometers. Within its 60,000 square meters of historic architecture, there are over 140 well-preserved Hakka homes that are more than 100 years old. These classic gray-brick, black-tile complexes were mostly built during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
