Zao'er Lane

The Zao'er Lane area stretches 227.3 meters in length, covering a total area of 6.14 hectares. It includes eight lanes: Zao'er Lane, Liuhupo Lane, Dongmenjing Lane, Youdi Lane, Xiaotan Lane, Liangwu Lane, Shaobing Lane, and Laogu Lane. This district preserves numerous representative buildings from the Qing Dynasty to the Republican era, with architectural styles that are also quite diverse — including Hakka architecture from southern Jiangxi, exquisitely crafted Huizhou-style buildings, structures bearing distinct architectural influences from Ji'an and Nanchang, as well as typical Western-style buildings. In some sections, there are also preserved cross-street archways, fully reflecting the multicultural character of the urban landscape.

At the entrances of two lanes stand antique-style memorial archways inscribed by four renowned contemporary calligraphers: father and son Li Zhenya and Li Anhua, along with Yuan Qingyi and Hu Lihua. A strong sense of ancient charm wafts through the air, making visitors feel as if they have stepped into the old scenes of a thousand-year-old Song Dynasty city.
