Ganzhou Confucius Temple

Ganzhou Confucius Temple is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Introduction: Ganzhou Confucius Temple is located in the southeast of the old town, on the north side of the eastern section of Houde Road. It is the largest and best-preserved ancient county-level educational site in Jiangxi Province and is a provincial-level cultural heritage protection unit. During the Tang Dynasty, this site was once the Ziji Taoist Temple, which was later converted into the Dazhong Xiangfu Palace during the Song Dynasty. The county school was established here during the Huangyou era. The original temple covered an area of approximately 10,000 square meters, with the entire architectural complex divided into three groups arranged along parallel axes. Most of the current structures were built during the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty and remain well-preserved. Key features include the Dacheng Gate, Dacheng Hall, Chongsheng Shrine, Kuixing Pavilion, and JieXiao Shrine. Among these, the Dacheng Hall is the main structure of the temple, standing 15 meters tall with a grand and imposing presence, showcasing distinct characteristics of southern Jiangxi architecture.
