Ancient Song Dynasty City Wall

The Ancient Song Dynasty City Wall is a cultural tourism attraction.

Stretching from Xijin Gate to Donghe Bridge along the river, this section is the largest surviving ancient city wall in Jiangxi Province. Measuring 3,664 meters in length and 5–7 meters in height, it is majestic and imposing, adding a striking charm to the ancient city of Ganzhou. Built during the Jiayou era of the Northern Song Dynasty with bricks and stones to guard against flooding, it is now one of the few surviving brick walls from the Northern Song Dynasty.

In addition to the city wall itself, military facilities such as artillery forts, crenellations, and the General Worship Platform have been preserved, along with tens of thousands of inscribed bricks. These inscribed bricks are the most valuable relics for studying the ancient city of Ganzhou, particularly its Song Dynasty heritage.
