Ganzhou Park

Ganzhou Park is the earliest comprehensive park in the urban area of Ganzhou, covering a total area of 2.97 hectares. Originally the office of the Nangang Regional Inspector, it was established in the eighth year of the Hongzhi reign during the Ming Dynasty (1495) by Censor Jin Ze. In the fourth year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1665), the office of the inspector was abolished and the site became the Nanan Dao Office. In the twenty-third year of Kangxi’s reign (1684), Regional Inspector Ding Wei converted the left part of the site into Piyuan Garden. By the twenty-fourth year of the Daoguang reign (1844), the garden featured structures such as Fengtai Mountain, Convenience Pool, Chunyu Pavilion, Fupin Hall, and Magnolia Twin Gallery. In the summer of 1933, the Ganzhou Municipal Government transformed the former site of the Dao Office into Ganzhou Park, which was renamed Zhongzheng Park in 1944. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, it reverted to its original name, Ganzhou Park.
