Beixiang Karst Cave Cluster: In the past, the "fairy descending to earth" and the beautiful legend gave rise to the famous tourist brand of Fairy Lake; today, the "hidden wonders" of the profound and mysterious Beixiang Karst Cave Cluster are set to unveil their secrets. We should cherish and make the most of this gift from nature. The Mengshan Mountain stretches across the northern part of our city, where karst landforms are prominently developed. Villages such as Dongcun, Gaolan, Caochang, Xiacun, and Renhe have over a hundred identified caves. Especially centered around Shenniu Cave in Nancun, Dongcun Township, within a radius of more than 10 kilometers, there are densely packed seven or eight spectacular and uniquely featured giant caves, making it one of the densest cave clusters in East China, with resource conditions that can almost rival those of Guilin’s caves.

Shenniu Cave is majestic and extraordinary, stretching 13 li in length, and is a rare canyon-type cave discovered in China. It gets its name from a giant horizontal rock at the cave entrance that strikingly resembles a water buffalo. As you venture inside, steep cliffs rise on both sides, creating a majestic atmosphere, while the deep river valley in the middle is dizzying. Stone beds and tables that look strikingly lifelike are scattered throughout, resembling cloud disks and fields, and winding like the Great Wall. There is an enormous stone stage, and the “sky curtain” on the cave ceiling undulates dramatically. Stalactites take on a myriad of forms, incredibly vivid and lifelike. Being inside feels refreshing and awe-inspiring.

Zhai Kou Cave is located 3 li south of Shenniu Cave and is a river-type cave. It stands out for its water features — a waterfall hangs high at the cave entrance with a thunderous roar, and the interior is filled with surging waters of unfathomable depth. It has potential for developing cave rafting, allowing visitors to experience the rustic charm of the ancient saying, “The clear waters of the Canglang are good to wash my feet.”

Hanmao Cave is adjacent to Zhai Kou Cave and also known as Hanpo Cave, renowned for its seclusion and wonder. Inside, small caves connect to larger ones, round caves encase square ones, and cave after cave links together, each offering its own scenic beauty. Dongkou Cave is located in the northern part of Gaolan Township and is known for its vastness. It consists of three caves with extremely spacious chambers, where hanging stalactites and various formations display exquisite craftsmanship and striking lifelikeness. Taoyuan Cave is situated in Caochang Township and is notable for its depth. The cave entrance is lofty, with ancient characters “Taoyuan Ancient Cave” carved into the stone wall at the top. The cave extends deep, with a winding passage that leads to even smaller and larger caves, reaching all the way to Moshan in Shanggao County. Inside the cave, stone bells and stone chimes produce sound when struck; stone monkeys, lions, elephants, tigers, as well as landscapes like “Nine Dragons Playing in Water” and “Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea,” all seem naturally formed. These caves are wildly diverse, full of charm, rich in types, and clustered closely together. If the tourism road can be successfully completed and used to connect them, the development potential is immeasurable.
