Cemetery Cluster of Chinese Army Soldiers Fallen in the Shanggao Battle at Qian'gang

The Cemetery Cluster of Chinese Army Soldiers Fallen in the Shanggao Battle at Qian'gang is located to the west of Wannian Bridge in Qianshan Town, Fenyi County. In February 1941, the 87th Field Hospital of the Military Supervision Department of the 9th War Zone of the Chinese Army was stationed at the west gate of Fenyi County town, while three stretcher teams of the 15th Sanitary Battalion were stationed in Dongcun and Xicha. Fenyi County town became the rear base and command center for the Shanggao Battle, where wounded soldiers from the battle were treated at this rear hospital. Soldiers who succumbed to their injuries were buried at the foot of Qian'gang Mountain, totaling over 70 graves. Among them was Colonel Chen Ming, commander of the 51st Regiment of the 74th Army. At that time, a "Monument to Fallen Soldiers in the Anti-Japanese War" was erected next to the cemetery. It was destroyed in 1958.
