The Buddha Rock Niche is a cultural relic protection unit of Hebei Province.

Buddha Rock Niche

The Buddha Rock Niche is located in Mujing Village, She County. The stone niches are carved into a protruding bluestone cliff, facing south, and consist of 9 niches with a total of 37 statues. There are both round-arched and pointed-arched niches. The largest niche is 1.27 meters high and 0.9 meters wide, containing 9 statues. Most of the niches house one Buddha, two bodhisattvas, and two guardian warriors, or one Buddha and two bodhisattvas. Each niche has its own unique features and varying forms. In addition to Buddhist statues, there is also one niche featuring folk belief figures such as the Heavenly Official and Earthly Official, making it an important resource reflecting folk beliefs during the Song Dynasty. It is now a key cultural relic protection unit of Hebei Province.
