Former Site of the Shanxi–Hebei–Shandong–Henan Border Region Government

The Former Site of the Shanxi–Hebei–Shandong–Henan Border Region Government is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit, a classic red tourism destination, and a patriotic education base.

The Shanxi–Hebei–Shandong–Henan Border Region Government was located in Danyin Village, Danbao Town, northwest of She County, Handan City, Hebei Province. It is 104 kilometers from downtown Handan. It serves as a base for revolutionary tradition and patriotic education.

The Shanxi–Hebei–Shandong–Henan Border Region Government was established on July 18, 1941. In February 1942, it relocated here from Jinjiahui Village, She County, then moved to Xiawen Village, She County, in 1945, and later that December to Longquan Village, Xiabai Shu, Wu’an County. It managed the administration of the entire border region, issuing governmental orders and guidelines, formulating implementation methods, regulations, and special ordinances for designated areas. Yang Xiufeng, Bo Yibo, and Rong Wusheng served as the chair and vice chairs. The government included offices such as the Secretariat, Finance Department, Communications Department, Education Department, Taxation Bureau, Military Region Command, and Higher People’s Court. In 1945, it oversaw four administrative offices (Taihang, Taiyue, Southern Hebei, and Southern Hebei–Western Henan), 22 prefectures, and 154 counties. Its jurisdiction spanned from the Tianjin–Pukou Railway in the east to the Tongpu Railway in the west, reached the Longhai Railway in the south, and bordered the Shide and Zhengtai Railways in the north, covering parts of Shanxi, Hebei, Shandong, and Henan provinces. The total area was over 120,000 square kilometers, with a population of 25.51 million. It was dissolved on September 1, 1948, after the establishment of the North China People’s Government. It played a significant role during the War of Resistance Against Japan and the Liberation War, making great contributions to national liberation and the victory of the democratic revolution. The site now consists of an independent traditional courtyard house, including the main building, north wing, theater stage, and west side room.

In May 2013, the Former Site of the Shanxi–Hebei–Shandong–Henan Border Region Government was listed as part of the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
