One of Quanzhou’s Top Ten Charming Villages.

This long ancient street paved with flagstones still bears traces of history everywhere. Walking along the stone-paved lane, you’ll pass by time-worn Southern Fujian traditional houses slowly drifting by. Legend has it that during the Song Dynasty, when constructing the East and West Pagodas of Kaiyuan Temple, stones were quarried here, hence the name “Stone Street.”

The Zhenwu Temple under the ancient banyan trees was first built in the Song Dynasty, enshrining the God of the Sea and Rivers, Zhenwu Dadi. The mountain gate hangs a plaque inscribed with “Wudang Mountain.” On the stone steps, a large rock with a stone tablet bearing the characters “Tunshi” (Swallowing Stone) stands prominently at the entrance, exuding great presence. Inside the temple stands a giant seven-star sword, said to have been wielded by Zhenwu Dadi. In times when the temple was shrouded in gloom, evil fish, turtles, and snake demons ran rampant around Quanzhou Port, committing countless misdeeds. The Jade Emperor sent Zhenwu Dadi to subdue the demons. Armed with the seven-star sword bestowed upon him by the Supreme Deity Tai Bai Jin Xing, Zhenwu vanquished the monsters, bringing clarity to the world and allowing the people to live in peace and prosperity ever since... Due to its proximity to the urban area and convenient transportation, visiting Fashi for sightseeing is a comfortable and pleasant experience for travelers.
