Mingxi Yuxu Cave

The cave is located at the foot of Huangpo Mountain, about 2 kilometers northeast of Mingxi County.

Yuxu Cave is a typical karst landform, with stone colors resembling white jade and yellow wax. The cave is divided into an open section and a dark section. The open section is perpetually dripped on from above, earning it the nickname "Dripping Water Rock." The open section is bright yet not dry, with grotesque rocks towering in various shapes; the dark section is dim yet not damp, featuring deep and mysterious passages. In front of the cave are inscriptions from the Ming Dynasty, such as “Yuxu Cave Heaven,” “Yuxu Immortal Cave,” and “Yuxu Heavenly Nectar.” The open section fronts the Guanyin Hall, which covers an area of about 100 square meters and is supported by three natural stone pillars on the left, middle, and right. Inside, there are over 10 scenic spots, including the Heavenly Spring, “Fighting Lions,” Turtle Stone, “Honeycomb,” and Moon-Walking Platform. The rear section is Peach Blossom Cave, which can accommodate a thousand people. Its stones are brilliantly colorful, featuring attractions such as the Immortal Bridge, Buddha Head Rock, Auspicious Cloud Rock, Hidden Magpie Rock, Shimmering Stone, and Leaping Carp Stone. Among them, “Heavenly Drum” and “Resounding Cavity” are the most fascinating—when lightly tapped with a straw broom, they emit loud sounds that resonate for a long time. To the left of the Guanyin Hall stands the Zhenyi Pavilion, and atop the cave is the Moon-Gazing Pavilion.

The dark section is illuminated and projected with colorful lights tailored to the terrain and scenery, featuring attractions such as the Carp-Calming Stone, “Turtle and Snake Entering the Cave,” “A Slit of Sky,” “Sinking Stream,” “Milky Way,” “Immortal’s Bed,” and “Sun and Moon at the Bottom of the Cave.” There are nearly 100 cliff inscriptions from the Song Dynasty to the present, along with remnants of over 40 stele bases. The entire cave tour takes only about 20 minutes, with attractions clustered together. Outside the cave, there are peculiar rocks and winding stone paths leading all the way to the top of the rock. Midway up and at the summit, pavilions offer rest areas for visitors. Beneath the rock, springs bubble forth, and there are gardens such as a flower garden, plum garden, azalea garden, palm garden, and a teahouse for visitors to enjoy and relax.

Transportation includes direct road access leading to the cave entrance.
