5 kilometers from the county seat. With an elevation of 1,288 meters and a summit area of over 2,000 square meters, it is one of the highest peaks in Youxi. The mountain features hundreds of hand-carved railings along winding paths, and at its peak stands a statue of Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy, built during the Tang Dynasty's Zhenguan era (627–649). Mount Penglai is not only one of the earliest developed scenic and religious sites before the establishment of Mingxi County, but also one of the most beautiful natural tourist destinations in Sanming City. The area boasts uniquely shaped mountains, majestic peaks, steep cliffs, grotesque rocks, flowing springs, waterfalls, lush forests, ancient trees, rare flowers and plants, all contributing to its picturesque landscape.

The mountain features attractions such as the Golden Crucian Carp Pond, Stone Chessboard, Black and White Stones, Alchemy Furnace, and White Crane Cave. Additionally, there are deep caves, towering rock formations, perilous gorges, murmuring mountain springs, verdant pines and cypresses, and breathtaking scenery. Legend has it that immortals once roamed the mountaintop, and the sounds of drums and music could be heard. According to a poem recorded in the *Youxi County Annals*, an ancient verse reads: “A gentle breeze stirs the mist and clouds to part, sunlight bathes the peak where incense burners stand; I do not come to worship the divine, but simply to admire the scenery on Mount Penglai.” In Mount Penglai, the summer heat is absent and the winter cold is mild, with crisp air and an average temperature of 18°C. The sunrise and sunset views are especially spectacular. The serene and magnificent scenery of the mountain captivates visitors, making them linger and forget to leave. A winding mountain road also leads up to the peak.
