Ziyun Rock Carvings

The Ziyun Rock Carvings are a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

The Ziyun Rock Carvings are located in Ziyun Village, Xiayang, Mingxi, dating back to the Bronze Age.

Description: The Ziyun Rock Carvings were ground into the natural surface of the rock, which is relatively rough, with diverse cross-sectional shapes of the incised grooves. The carvings form an irregular rectangle, divided into eastern and western sections, with largely consistent content. The eastern section covers an area of approximately 8.42 square meters, while the western section spans about 9.38 square meters. The main patterns of the carvings are predominantly circular, totaling around 105 in number. The designs include dot patterns, concentric single-ring patterns, single-ring patterns, concentric double-ring patterns, and other motifs. The patterns vary in size, with the largest measuring approximately 19 cm in length and 17 cm in width, and the smallest about … cm in length and 10 cm in width.

In 2018, the Ziyun Rock Carvings were designated as part of the ninth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.

Protection Area: An area extending 20 meters outward from all sides of the Ziyun Rock Carvings.
