The Former Sites of the Red Army in Hufang are a Fujian Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit and a classic red tourism destination.

The Former Sites of the Red Army in Hufang are located in Hufang Village, Hufang Town, Mingxi County, dating back to 1933.

Introduction: The site consists of structures such as the Su Family Mansion, Guangxi Guild Hall, Li Family Ancestral House, and Li Family Courtyard, all built during the Qing Dynasty. In June 1931, the 13th Division of the 4th Army of the First Front Red Army, under the leadership of Commander Su Yu and Political Commissar Gao Zili, was stationed in Hufang. In 1933, a red political power—the Workers’ and Peasants’ Revolutionary Committee—was established in Hufang, launching struggles such as targeting local tyrants and redistributing land. The 39th Regiment of the 13th Division of the Fourth Red Army, led by Song Renqiong, and the 55th Regiment of the 19th Division of the Seventh Red Army, led by Xiao Jingguang, used the Su Family Mansion in Hufang Village as their regimental headquarters. Proletarian revolutionary veterans such as Peng Dehuai and Wang Jiaxiang once fought here. To this day, a large lime slogan on the wall of the Li Family Courtyard still reads: “Down with imperialism, thoroughly distribute the land equally.”

In 2018, the Former Sites of the Red Army in Hufang were designated as part of the ninth batch of Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Units by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.

Protected Area: Each individual structure is protected within an area extending 20 meters outward from its perimeter.

Hufang Village: Hufang Village is a revolutionary base village and the central settlement of the town. It has a total population of 1,527, with 405 households across 19 villager groups. The village covers 2,744 mu of arable land and 22,004 mu of forested land, with a labor force of 928 people, including 612 who work or do business outside the village—221 of whom are overseas. The village currently has 8 village committee cadres (including 1 county-appointed cadre and 1 university graduate village official), 48 Party members, and 35 villager representatives.
