The Site of the Huafeng District Soviet Government is a classic destination for red tourism.

The Site of the Huafeng District Soviet Government is located in Fengxi Village, Fengxi Township, Mingxi County.

In March 1932, part of the main force of the Red 3rd Army Corps marched from Jun Kou through Wushi Duan and divided their troops to be stationed in Xiazhen, Aokeng, and other areas. In April, with the help of the Red Army, the Huafeng District (now Fengxi Township) officially established a Soviet government, which was set up at the Zhang Family Ancestral Hall in Fengxi Village, with Zeng Mushui as the chairman. The district Soviet government governed the township Soviet governments of Fengxi, Huashan, Xiaoheng, and Guanfang, as well as organizations such as district and township Red Guards and Poor Peasants’ Associations. On the morning of April 15, over 80 members of an armed group composed of members of the Big Sword Society and defense corps from Xiazhen, Shiheng (Xiaoheng), Fengxi, and Guanfang — with Li Debiao from Xinjian, Xiazhen, and Zhang Dainan from Xiaoya Village, Huafeng Township, serving as platoon leader and deputy platoon leader respectively — besieged the district Soviet government at the Zhang Family Ancestral Hall. The Red Army stationed at the Soviet government quickly organized a counterattack and routed the bandits. In August 1934, with the strategic relocation of the main Red Army forces, the district Soviet government ceased its activities, and its personnel were either incorporated into the Red Army or joined local armed forces to engage in arduous guerrilla warfare.

The former site of the Huafeng District Soviet Government of Guihua County was originally the Zhang Family Ancestral Hall in Fengxi Village, Fengxi Township. It faced south and was rectangular in layout. Built in the early years of the Republic of China, it was a two-story brick-and-wood structure covering an area of about 160 square meters. Along the central axis from north to south were, in sequence, a perimeter wall, a courtyard, a patio, and an upper hall, with a shrine located in the central bay. Later, it was demolished due to campus construction needs.
