The Site of the Soviet Government of Zheshexiang is a classic red tourism attraction.

The Site of the Soviet Government of Zheshexiang is located in Zheshexiang Village, Xiafang Township, Mingxi County.

In March 1932, part of the main forces of the Red 3rd Army Division advanced into Aolong, with detachments stationed in areas such as Xiafang and Aokeng. With the help of the Red Army, the Aolong District Soviet Government was established. In December of the same year, Zheshexiang, under the jurisdiction of the Aolong District Soviet Government, held a mass meeting to establish the Zheshexiang Soviet Government, headquartered at the ancestral hall of the Xia family’s third branch. Xia Xinxiu served as the chairman. In August 1934, with the strategic relocation of the main Red Army forces, the township Soviet Government ceased operations, and its members either joined the Red Army or were incorporated into local armed forces to engage in arduous guerrilla warfare.

The original site of the Zheshexiang Soviet Government was the ancestral hall of the Xia family’s third branch. It faces southwest and is situated northeast, with structures along the central axis arranged from southwest to northeast, including an enclosing wall, courtyard, lower hall, patio, and upper hall—forming a complex of Qing Dynasty architecture. The main upper hall building is three bays wide, six columns deep, 6.5 meters high, with a flush gable roof. The floor is paved with blue bricks, and the central bay features a shrine. Due to years of neglect, it has now been ruined.

Zheshexiang Village: Located in the eastern part of Xiafang Township, Zheshexiang Village is 15 kilometers from the township government. The village covers a total area of 27,251 mu, including 801 mu of arable land, 26,600 mu of forestland, and 120 mu of water area. It currently administers 4 villager groups, consists of 2 natural villages, and has a population of 93 households totaling 397 people. The village committee has 6 members (including 1 female cadre), and there are 18 party members in the village (including 4 female party members).
