The Site of the Soviet Government of Xiabang Township is a classic red tourism destination.

The Site of the Soviet Government of Xiabang Township is located within the campus of Xiabang Township Middle School in Mingxi County.

In March 1932, with the help of part of the main forces of the Red Third Army Corps, the Aolong District Soviet Government was established. Xiabang Township, under the jurisdiction of the Aolong District Soviet Government, also held a mass meeting on April 4 at the Yuhuang Building in Xiabang to establish the Soviet Government of Xiabang Township. Zhou Laolai, a local from Xiabang Township, was elected as chairman, and the meeting also selected a vice-chairman, land distribution committee members, a clerk, and representatives of the Peasant Association. In early April and early June 1934, the township Soviet Government was attacked twice by reactionary militias, resulting in the tragic killing of Zhou Laolai and other township and village Soviet cadres, as well as progressive locals such as Li Qixun. Later, with the strategic relocation of the main Red Army forces, the township Soviet Government ceased its activities, and its members either joined the Red Army or formed guerrilla units to continue the struggle.

The Yuhuang Building is a two-courtyard wooden structure with a hip-and-gable roof built during the Qing Dynasty. In April 1987, the Yuhuang Building was listed as a county-level cultural relics protection unit. On June 16, 2002, Xiabang Township experienced a once-in-a-century catastrophic flood. The Yuhuang Building was submerged under 2 meters of water and partially collapsed, becoming a dangerous structure. To ensure the normal operation of teaching activities at Xiabang Middle School, the building was demolished in August of that year.

Xiabang Township: Xiabang Township is under the jurisdiction of Mingxi County, Sanming City, Fujian Province. It is located in the northwest of Mingxi, at 116°56′ east longitude and 26°24′ north latitude, at the junction of Mingxi, Taining, Jianning, and Ninghua counties. It borders Gaiyang Town of the same county and Long’an Township of Taining County to the east, Quanshang Town of Ninghua County to the south, Fengxi Township of the same county to the west, and Junkou Town of Jianning County to the north.
