The Martyrs' Cemetery of Revolutionary Martyr Lai Shuijin is a classic red tourism destination and a patriotic education base.

The Martyrs' Cemetery of Revolutionary Martyr Lai Shuijin is located 30 meters north of the county meteorological bureau in Xiecwo Bay Natural Village, Pingbu Village, Chengguan Township, Mingxi County.

Lai Shuijin, male, Han ethnicity, was a native of Guiding (now Mingxi County), Fujian. He was born into a poor farming family in 1882. In the spring of 1930, when the Fourth Red Army arrived in Guiding County, he actively cooperated with the Red Army's propaganda team to carry out mass work, receiving education and training. In the autumn of the same year, he joined the Communist Party of China. He helped raise grain and funds for the Red Army troops and mobilized workers and peasants to organize trade unions and peasant associations. In July 1931, the Guiding County Workers' and Peasants' Revolutionary Committee was established. Afterward, he succeeded Cai Fuqin as chairman of the county committee. In the spring of 1932, he was appointed director of the Southeast Office of the Guiding County Soviet Government and actively led the masses in carrying out the land revolution struggle. In July 1933, he cooperated with the Red Army’s Eastern Army in battle to reclaim the county seat. In January 1934, he was elected as the head of the Land Department of the Guiding County Soviet Government. In June of the same year, he became the deputy secretary of the Guiding County Committee of the Communist Party of China. Under his leadership, the land redistribution campaign gained strong momentum throughout the county.

In October 1934, after the main force of the Central Red Army began the Long March, the Nationalist army carried out — against cadres and masses in the Soviet area. Lai Shuijin, along with the Guiding County Committee of the Communist Party of China, the staff of the Guiding County Soviet Government, and the guerrilla forces, persisted in guerrilla warfare locally. In the same year, due to betrayal by a traitor, Lai Shuijin was unfortunately captured. That autumn, he was secretly executed by the Nationalist authorities outside the east gate of the county town (now behind the Agricultural Science Institute), at the age of 52.

After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Mingxi County People’s Government posthumously recognized him as a martyr and built the Martyrs' Cemetery of Lai Shuijin as one of the patriotic education bases. In September 2005, the Propaganda Department of the Mingxi County Committee of the Communist Party of China, along with the Party Committee and government of Chengguan Township, renovated the cemetery for future generations to pay tribute. The renovated cemetery faces west and is built with cement bricks. The marble tombstone is 2 meters high and 0.85 meters wide. The cemetery platform is 8 meters wide and 6 meters deep, paved with marble fragments. On the right side of the tomb is a marble plaque that records a brief biography of Martyr Lai Shuijin. The design of the tomb is simple, dignified, and solemn.

The Martyrs' Cemetery of Revolutionary Martyr Lai Shuijin was designated as a patriotic education base of Mingxi County in November 1995 by the Mingxi County Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Mingxi County People’s Government.

Pingbu Village: Located in the northern suburbs of the county town, about 2 kilometers from the county center, Pingbu Village is one of the old revolutionary base villages in Mingxi County. The village has 5 natural villages, 12 villager groups, 734 households, and 2,497 people, with 520 people working or doing business outside the village, including 160 overseas. The total land area is 14,162 mu, including 2,190 mu of arable land, 7,276 mu of forestland, 130 mu of orchard land, 630 mu of tobacco planting area, and 1,676 dan of tobacco purchased.
