Jiufu Mountain Ecotourism Area is located in the experimental zone of the Jiufu Mountain Provincial Nature Reserve and its surrounding areas in the southwestern part of Youxi County, central Fujian, on the western side of the northern section of the Daiyun Mountain Range. It lies at the heart of Fujian Province's geographical region, 13 kilometers from downtown Youxi. The area boasts well-preserved forest vegetation, majestic and rugged canyons and cliffs, stunning waterfalls and pools, intriguing exotic trees and vines, and an immaculate ecological environment. Experts have praised it as having "unparalleled natural advantages for developing a premium ecotourism destination," making it an ideal retreat for urban dwellers to reconnect with and enjoy nature.

The Jiufu Mountain Ecotourism Area covers a total area of 715.3 hectares, including 295.8 hectares within the experimental zone of the nature reserve and 419.5 hectares outside the reserve. With a planned investment of 124,105,000 yuan, the area is designated to develop five functional zones: the Zhuyuanli Management and Service Zone, Tianchi Wetland Viewing Zone, Jiufu Stream Canyon Scenic Zone, Shuangli Lake Sightseeing Zone, and Fenghuang Mountain Ecological Conservation Zone. Its resource highlights are mainly reflected in the following aspects:

1. Majestic and spectacular peaks and canyons. The terrain within the ecological area is rugged, with the highest elevation reaching 1,052.5 meters and a relative height difference of over 800 meters. The Jiufu Mountain canyon stretches 7.5 kilometers, descending from an altitude of over 400 meters to 200 meters, with a drop of more than 200 meters. Precipitous cliffs, overlapping peaks, and hidden valleys offer a mysterious exploration experience. Peculiar rocks hang in mid-air, dangerous crags stand tall, rare flowers and plants thrive, and mosses and lichens cover the ground, all set against a backdrop of lush greenery, creating a uniquely enchanting atmosphere.

2. Diverse flora and fauna landscapes. The ecological area is covered by dense forest vegetation, with natural evergreen broad-leaved forests accounting for the majority, resulting in a forest coverage rate of 89.1%. It is home to a wide variety of animal and plant species. The area features multiple forest types, including evergreen broad-leaved forests, mixed coniferous and broad-leaved forests, coniferous forests, and bamboo groves, among which the Michelia compressa forest, Castanopsis eyrei forest, and Pygeum topengii forest are distinctive plant communities. The mountain forests exude a rich wild charm, with birds and beasts thriving. Groups of macaques are often seen near forest edges and fields, while insects and birds fill the air with sounds, and animals frolic in harmony with the trees, composing a beautiful symphony of natural balance.

3. Graceful and picturesque waterfalls and pools. The ecological area features winding streams, captivating waterfalls and pools, serene high-mountain lakes, and a rich variety of hydrological landscapes.

4. Unique and pleasant climate and sky phenomena. Jiufu Mountain, with its overlapping peaks and ever-changing weather, offers the rustic charm of misty rain and fog-shrouded wilderness that captivates visitors. Scenes of clouds veiling the sun and radiant clouds create a fairy-tale-like atmosphere. The canyon scenery, ancient pines on cliffs, sunrise, and sunset leave visitors mesmerized.

5. Rich and diverse cultural landscapes. The “Old Lu Residence” in Zhuyuanli is the birthplace of Lu Xingbang, a once-influential figure in central Fujian, and features well-preserved traditional architecture unique to the region. In Shuangli Village, the Jianlong Bridge connected to Shuangli Reservoir is quaint and elegant, retaining its timeless charm. The Gongguan Gorge, built by Lu Xingbang, is grand and luxurious in scale. Religious and legendary sites such as the Xinxing Ancestral Hall, Fengshan Temple, and Immortal Pavilion add a mysterious and fascinating dimension to Jiufu Mountain.
