Huoshui Pavilion

The Yuanshui Headwater Huoshui Pavilion is the most famous ancient pavilion in Sanming, located on the south side of Shuinan Park in Youxi County. According to the *Youxi County Annals*, one Huoshui Pavilion was built over a half-acre square pond in the 11th year of the Hongzhi reign during the Ming Dynasty (1498) by Magistrate Fang Pu; another was situated beside Gongshan Mountain, rebuilt in the 14th year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1749) by County Magistrate Zhao Qi. The area features high mountains and clear waters, and the phrase "headwater of living water" originates from a key insight in Zhu Xi’s philosophical journey. The water flows around the foot of Gongshan Mountain and is channeled into the "half-acre square pond."
