Maojing Fort

Maojing Fort is a cultural heritage site protected by Fujian Province.

Maojing Fort is located in Gai Zhu Village, Taixi Township, Youxi County, and dates back to the Qing Dynasty.

Description: Constructed between the eighth and eleventh years of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty (1869–1885), the fort faces west and has an architectural layout that is square in the front and round at the back, situated on a slope with the front lower than the rear. It is built along the mountain and covers a construction area of over 6,000 square meters. The structure consists of a small bridge, path, and paddy fields in front of the fort, high steps, the fort gate, front building, wing rooms, 0-, main hall, literary and martial study rooms, side rooms, rear flower terrace, grain storage, animal pens, toilets, a mill, horse-running paths, escape tunnels, and more. The main hall features a width of five bays, a depth of seven columns, a post-and-lintel beam frame, and a hanging gable roof.

In 2013, Maojing Fort was designated as part of the eighth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage protection units by the People's Government of Fujian Province.

As a high-altitude village, it lies against the scenic Wenbi Peak and faces the majestic Governor Mountain. It borders Dingyan Village to the north, connects with Kengmei Village to the south, lies five kilometers east of Dongshan Village, and adjoins Wenbi Mountain to the west. The village is 30 kilometers from the county seat and 13 kilometers from the township center, covering an area of 2.6 square kilometers.
