Youxi County Museum

Established in 1985, the Youxi Museum was among the first provincial-level "Patriotic Education Bases" and "Science Popularization Bases" in Fujian Province, as well as a municipal-level "Civilized Unit." It is currently designated as a Grade II Museum in Fujian Province.

The new building of the Youxi Museum is situated within the Zhu Zi Cultural Park, the birthplace of Zhu Xi, a renowned philosopher and educator of the Southern Song Dynasty. It spans a land area of 2,350 square meters, with a construction area of 7,300 square meters and an exhibition area of over 2,600 square meters. This antique-style structure blends the architectural features of traditional large-scale local manors and fortified watchtowers in Youxi. It is a modern cultural venue integrating functions such as collection display, education and training, research exchange, and creative cultural development.

The museum boasts a rich and diverse collection of high-quality exhibits and highlights, along with well-equipped facilities. Utilizing a combination of traditional and modern exhibition methods, it showcases the historical and cultural heritage of the Youxi region from the time of early human activity in the Neolithic Age. Eight themed exhibition halls have been set up, covering topics such as Zhu Xi the master of Neo-Confucianism, the millennia-old county, the Central Fujian Soviet Area, local folk customs, the Fujian Lu faction, folk collections, cultural exchanges, and 3D special effects experiences. These exhibitions highlight the splendid history, profound cultural legacy, and spirit of exploration and innovation of the ancient county of Youxi.
