Xidong Township: Located in the northern part of Songxi County, 38 kilometers from the county seat. The villages and towns are situated along the eastern bank of the Weitian Stream, hence the name. In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Haotian Li and was under the jurisdiction of the Shuihe Subdistrict. In the early years of the People’s Republic of China, it was part of the Weitian District. In 1959, Xidong Commune was established, and in 1984, the commune was restructured into a township. It administers 8 village committees, 48 natural villages, 83 villager groups, and has a population of 13,300, comprising Han, She, Li, and Dong ethnic groups. The township covers an area of 81.72 square kilometers, including 103,500 mu of mountainous land and 13,600 mu of arable land.
