Guancun South Well

Guancun South Well is a cultural heritage site protected at the county level in Songxi County.

Guancun South Well is located southwest of Guancun Village in Jiuxian Township, beside the concrete road leading to Lidian. It is a well dating back to the Southern Song Dynasty. The well consists of a well platform, a well curb, and the well shaft. The well curb is carved from a single piece of rock, circular with melon ribbing divided into six ribs, slightly curved on the outer wall, with a diameter of 1.3 meters, a height of 0.6 meters, and a thickness of 0.12 meters. The surface of the well curb is inscribed in intaglio regular script with characters reading “...immortal merit... Tang Chen... made, Chongning fourth year...” The well platform is made of cement, measuring 2 meters in length, 1 meter in width, with an area of 2 square meters. The well is 4.2 meters deep, constructed with multiple layers of stone well rings stacked together, each ring about 0.3 meters high, and formed by four arc-faced stone rings per layer. The water in the well is crystal clear and it is still in use today. The protected area extends 10 meters outward in all directions.

Guancun South Well has been designated as a county-level cultural heritage protection unit.

Guancun Village: Guancun Village is located along County Road 831, 10 kilometers from Songxi County, with convenient transportation, and falls under the jurisdiction of the township government. The village has a proud revolutionary tradition, with Yangyuan Natural Village being a key base village of the revolutionary old area. The village currently has 5 villager groups, 288 households, and a population of 1,234, including 51 Party members. The total arable land area is 1,389 mu, and the total forested area is 600 mu.

The main industry of Guancun Village is agriculture, and the main sources of income for local farmers include bamboo shoots, tobacco leaves, tea, edible fungus, and working outside the village.
