Songxi Meikoupu Tourist Scenic Area

Songxi Meikoupu Tourist Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Meikou Village is located in the southwestern part of Songxi County, backed by Zhanlu Mountain. It is the last village along the Songxi River within the county and also the lowest in elevation in Zhengdun Town. In ancient times, Meikou served as a dock and ferry crossing for entering and exiting Songxi.

The Meikou Ancient Port 4A-level tourism project is a pastoral tourism complex that integrates rural tourism, leisure vacations, film and television shooting, and industrial development, with a total investment of 550 million RMB. Leveraging the area’s rich natural, historical, and cultural resources, the project follows an overall construction plan featuring “one core and one belt (the ancient residential core area and riverside scenic belt), two parks and three zones (the plum blossom theme park, Baiyunyan Forest Park, visitor distribution zone, cultural experience zone, and wellness vacation zone), and multiple nodes (Wanqian Century Sugarcane, the Scholar’s Mansion of the Martial Examination Champion, Qianjin Couple Rocks, Xinpudong Agricultural Expo Garden).” The aim is to create a national 4A-level scenic area where “you can see the mountains, view the waters, and remember the nostalgia of your hometown.” The construction includes the Ancient Ferry Culture Core Experience Zone, the Meikou Water Street Riverside Scenic Belt, Baiyunyan Forest Park, the Plum Blossom Theme Park, the Visitor Distribution Zone, the Health and Wellness Vacation Zone, the White Tea Culture Experience Zone, as well as attractions such as Wanqian Century Sugarcane and Wanqian Scholar’s Mansion, along with infrastructure. Plans call for the reconstruction of more than 20 ancient houses to form a cohesive cluster, accompanied by supporting facilities such as inns and star-rated hotels. By the end of 2018, the Meikoupu Tourist Scenic Area was successfully rated as a national AAA-level tourist attraction.
