Daqiuzhuang serves as a patriotic education base.

Daqiuzhuang was established as a village in the second year of the Yongle era during the Ming Dynasty. Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, especially since the reform and opening-up, Daqiuzhuang has consistently upheld the leadership of the Party, adhered to reform and opening-up, and pursued scientific development. The once poor and backward small village has transformed into a vibrant scene of rapid rural economic growth and continuously improving living standards for its farmers.

In 1993, Daqiuzhuang was restructured from a village into a town. It now covers an area of 124 square kilometers, comprises 26 villages and streets, and has a population of 110,000. It is located 30 kilometers from the city’s core area and 40 kilometers from the Binhai New Area. A comprehensive transportation network of “six vertical and five horizontal” routes—including the Jin-Cang, Rongwu, and Changshen expressways, as well as the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway—runs through the town. It is recognized as one of China’s Top Ten Distinctive Towns, a China Steel Pipe Industry Cluster Town, one of China’s first Green and Low-Carbon Pilot Towns, and a National Civilized Village and Town.

In recent years, Daqiuzhuang Town has firmly adhered to the work guideline of “high standards, bold strides, and striving for excellence,” following the basic approach of “coordinated planning, overall advancement, key breakthroughs, and reaching higher levels.” Guided by the Scientific Outlook on Development, with transforming the economic development model as the main thread, adjusting the economic structure as the primary focus, and project construction as the leading force, the town has prioritized the implementation of a “three-zone” linkage strategy involving agricultural production zones, industrial demonstration zones, and residential zones for farmers. This aims to comprehensively build a “ecological, smart, civilized, and prosperous” Daqiuzhuang.

While accelerating economic development, Daqiuzhuang Town has also focused on improving the living environment for its residents. Currently, the town has 578 residential buildings and villas, with an average per capita housing area of 62 square meters, and a forest coverage rate of 35%. On top of continuously improving medical facilities and public health prevention systems in both the town and villages, the town has established three major funds for assisting the disabled, helping those in need, and supporting education, with a total amount exceeding 20 million yuan. These funds have effectively addressed the basic living and medical needs of 267 disabled residents in the town, enabling those who fell into hardship or poverty due to illness or sudden incidents to lead normal lives. Subsidies are provided annually to university students and primary and secondary school students from particularly needy families, truly achieving a social framework where the elderly are cared for, workers have employment, the sick receive treatment, and the poor get support.

In recent years, Daqiuzhuang Town has primarily focused on industrial tours, agricultural experiences, and planning exhibitions, supported by professional guided services, to fully leverage its role as a patriotic education base. According to incomplete statistics, the town receives nearly 100,000 visitors for tours and inspections from all sectors of society each year. In 2009, it was designated as a Tianjin Municipal Patriotic Education Base by the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government.
