Jian'ou features beautiful mountains and rivers, numerous historical sites, and abundant tourism resources. There are many uniquely outstanding large and small peaks in the region.

These include Guizongyan, a provincial-level scenic spot that encompasses the charm of Wuyi Mountain; Chen Mountain, the second highest peak in northern Fujian, known as the "Pole Star of the Morning Hill"; Wanmulin, a provincial nature reserve hailed as a "forest museum" of the central subtropical zone; and the Mazu wooden sculpture statue, which is regarded as a unique treasure of China.

Jian'ou’s long history has resulted in rich historical relics. There is Guangxiao Temple, the oldest and largest temple in Fujian’s history, praised as “Kaiyuan in the south and Guangxiao in the north”; the iconic “Five Phoenix Tower” of the Min Kingdom capital; the Song Dynasty tea god Zhang Sangong Temple and the ruins of the Beiyuan tribute tea production site; and the Jianing Prefecture Confucius Temple, the largest surviving Confucian temple in the province with strong Song Dynasty architectural style. Other attractions include Dongyue Temple, Genquan Well, Weiwu Gate, Linjiang Gate, Tongji Gate, and Tongxian Gate. Additionally, folk culture, tea culture, liquor culture, bamboo culture, and root art culture are vibrant, with the “Flag Pole Dance” (Tiaofan) included in the provincial intangible cultural heritage list of folk acrobatic programs.

Mysterious Golden Triangle: The "Golden Triangle" bamboo forest is located in the She ethnic mountain village of Wudayuan Village, Fangdao Town. The fertile land here produces massive moso bamboos with plump and sweet shoots, and the bamboo forest scenery is picturesque. Local She people mainly rely on these bamboos for their economic income. In their eyes, this place is a mysterious golden mountain, inexhaustible and limitless. The shape of this bamboo forest resembles a triangle, so it is called the "Golden Triangle" by the local She people. It is reported that the 2006 National Bamboo Village on-site meeting will be held here.
