Chen Mountain, located in Shuiyuan Township in the eastern part of Jian’ou City, covers an area of 50 square kilometers. It is part of the western branch of the Jiufeng Mountain Range, bordering Pindong County to the east and facing Gutian County to the south. On Chen Mountain, there are magnificent peaks such as Xiaoyao Peak, Yigan Peak, and Pantao Peak, each with its own unique features. The mountain also boasts peculiar rocks and formations, including “Immortals Playing Chess,” “Fairy’s Dressing Table,” “Stone Plow and Stone Shuttle,” “Celestial Horses in Formation,” “Reed Bamboo Cave,” and “Dragon’s Den.” Among them, the Stone Millstone and Stone Sieve are particularly remarkable. At the cliff of the mountain peak, there is an overhanging rock, two layers thick, shaped like a millstone — when stepped on, it sways noticeably. The Stone Sieve hangs from the rock face, with a diameter of about ten feet; when gently tapped, it resonates with a clear, lingering sound. Ascending the steps to the summit of Chen Mountain, you will find a huge rock standing alone — the “Pantao Rock,” also known as “Ox Summit Peak.”

Beneath the rock lies the “Ox Heart Cave,” a natural “stone house” that provides shelter from wind and rain, as well as a place for visitors to spend the night. Aside from its unusual rocks, Chen Mountain is also famous for its “four wonders”: unique pine trees, flying mists, and sea of clouds. Additionally, there is the marvelous “Sunrise at Chen Mountain.” The beauty of Chen Mountain lies in its natural state — without artificial embellishment or decoration. There are no pavilions or towers to enhance the scenery, nor poetic inscriptions to refine its image. With its pristine landscapes, extraordinary shapes, rugged, majestic aura, it has won the admiration of an increasing number of travelers.
